Isaac Taylor Headland was a missionary who served in China from 1890-1914 for the American Methodist Episcopal Church. In addition to his religious duties, he authored many books on China, including this book of nursery rhymes in Chinese and English with charming photographs. The rhymes were inspired by stories told by Chinese amahs to the foreign children in their care. Titles of the stories include “Little Fat Boy”, “Sweeter than Sugar”, “Chicken Skin” and “Sweet Pill.”  The book was published in 1900.
